Ways to get information and help

The ProSeries program has many ways for you to get the information that you need. Here are some of the most often used methods:

Live Community. Interact with other tax professionals using ProSeries software. Type a question in the Live Community panel on the right side of the ProSeries window, then click Ask My Question. Review responses to your questions in the Live Community panel along with questions asked by other users and the associated responses. Click the Browse Online Community, Search Online Help, and Research TaxAlmanac buttons at the bottom of the Live Community panel to go directly to those useful Web sites.
Alerts. If the yellow Alert bar appears below the toolbar, click it to see important, time-sensitive information that might affect you. Click the Alerts button on the toolbar to open the Alert History dialog box that contains information about all alerts that ProSeries Technical Support or ProSeries Customer Support has “pushed” to ProSeries programs via the Internet.
Search Help. Use the Search Help feature to find the information that you want quickly and easily. Type a question or keywords in the Search Help field on the right side of the Help toolbar or near the upper-left corner of the Help Center, then press ENTER or click the Search button.
Field/Form Help. You see Field/Form Help about the currently-selected field or form in the left side of the Help toolbar when you’re working on a return.
Most Common Support Questions. Use the Most Common Support Questions feature in the middle of the Help toolbar to get answers to top support questions. Most Common Support Questions are context sensitive, so they change as you move to different areas of the program and to different parts of a client’s return.
ProSeries User’s Guide. This User’s Guide contains information on how to use ProSeries software. Look in the User’s Guide if you have a “how do I” question. Using the Search feature in the User’s Guide can be especially useful.
ProSeries Help menu. The Help menu offers help in updating installed products, downloading new products, setting up your Internet connection, and setting ProSeries program options. The Help menu also offers one of the ways to open the Help Center.
ProSeries Help Center. The Help Center allows you to get a variety of information about your clients’ tax returns and your ProSeries products from one, easy-to-use location. The Help Center includes links to specific Internet sites, including the Self-Paced Training pages in the Training and CPE area of ProSeries.com.
ReadMe information. ReadMe information for each product (in the Help Center) contains the recent information about your ProSeries products.
Quick Answers. The Quick Answers feature (in the Help Center) has answers to many frequently-asked questions in the following topic areas: What’s New, General Questions, HomeBase, Data Transfer, Client Invoices and Billing, Client Letters, Electronic Filing, and Bank Products.
Where Do I Enter? feature. The Where Do I Enter? feature helps you when you’re not sure where to enter certain unusual or uncommon data for a federal Form 1040 return or federal Form 1065 return. Click the Where Do I Enter? button on the Forms Bar or toolbar, type a keyword or keywords, then click a search result to go to that form, schedule, worksheet, or other item.
Form Status bar. The Form Status bar (near the top of forms, when appropriate) provides some information about when the final version of that form might be available for download.
TaxAlmanac.org. TaxAlmanac is a free, online, tax research resource supported by a community of thousands of tax professionals. The TaxAlmanac Web site has valuable tax information, including community forums and over 55,000 articles. Look there for information throughout the year.
ProSeries.com. The ProSeries Web site has valuable information, including ProSeries newsletters, tax information, the ProSeries EF Atlas (which includes e-filing instructions and other useful information about e-filing), and online help and support. Look there if you need information throughout the tax season.
MyProSeries. The area of the ProSeries.com Web site that is customized for you and the ProSeries products you’ve purchased. Look here for many online support features.
ProSeries Technical Support. ProSeries Technical Support is available year-round to help you with any aspect of using ProSeries software.
ProSeries Customer Service. Contact ProSeries Customer Service if you have questions about your order, your Customer Number, or product licensing.
ProSeries Sales. Contact ProSeries Sales if you need to order ProSeries products.
