Federal Withholding
  New Federal income tax withholding tables effective 1/1/2013. (21304)

Medicare
  New Additional Medicare Tax of 0.9% is effective 1/1/2013. Employers will be responsible for withholding an additional 0.9% Medicare tax on an employee’s wages and compensation paid in excess of $200,000 in the calendar year. (21301)
  A new payroll tax item Medicare Employee Addl Tax has been added to calculate the additional 0.9% tax withholding for employees when applicable.  For additional information, click here. (21301)
  Action Required: Before creating paychecks dated in 2013, set up the Medicare Employee Addl Tax payroll tax item and add the new payroll tax item to all your employees who are subject to Medicare tax.  Setting up the new payroll tax item and adding to employee records is simple.  Refer to the Additional Medicare Tax User Guide for QuickBooks for set-up instructions and additional information.
