Instructions for First Security Bank and Republic Bank
If you’re offering bank products through First Security Bank or Republic Bank (instead of Santa Barbara Bank & Trust), note the following:
- To apply to First Security Bank or Republic Bank to participate in their bank products program, go to www.proseries.com, select E-Filing, select Bank Products, then click either First Security Bank or Republic Bank to link to that bank’s Web site.
- First Security Bank. If you are accepted into the First Security Bank bank products program, First Security Bank sends you the additional software, documentation, and check stock that you will need.
Republic Bank. If you are accepted into the Republic Bank bank products program, Republic Bank sends you the additional software, documentation, and check stock that you will need.
- After you receive the software from First Security Bank or Republic Bank, install it according to the documentation that accompanies it.
- When you prepare your clients’ returns in the ProSeries program, complete all the forms and fields that are required for electronic filing. (For more information, see "Preparing returns for electronic filing".)
- On each client’s Bank Products Information Worksheet:
- Select First Security Bank or Republic Bank, and
- Select Refund Anticipation Loan, Refund Transfer, or Refund Transfer Direct Deposit
- First Security Bank. When you offer bank products through First Security Bank, you use the First Security Bank software to fill out Bank Product applications, print checks, run Bank Product reports, and perform other Bank Products functions. You don’t use the ProSeries HomeBase Bank Products view or Bank Products menu.
Republic Bank. When you offer bank products through Republic Bank, you use the Republic Bank software to fill out Bank Product applications, print checks, run Bank Product reports, and perform other Bank Products functions. You don’t use the ProSeries HomeBase Bank Products view or Bank Products menu.
- When you file a federal return electronically, the ProSeries program sends it to the Intuit Electronic Filing Center, then the Intuit Electronic Filing Center sends the return to the IRS.
- When you transmit a client’s return:
- The client’s electronic filing status is updated in the Status column of the HomeBase EF Center, and
- A <client filename>.EFD file is entered in the 02ACKDAT subdirectory of your ProWin02 directory.
- When the Intuit Electronic Filing Center receives an acknowledgment from the IRS, it posts that information so it is available to the ProSeries program and Task Scheduler. The ProSeries program obtains that acknowledgment information either:
- When you choose the Receive Acknowledgments command from the Electronic Filing menu, or
- When Task Scheduler performs the Receive E-file Related Acknowledgments task.
- When you receive an acknowledgment for a client:
First Security Bank
If you’re offering bank products through First Security Bank:
- Use the First Security Bank software to send information about the client’s bank product request to First Security Bank. The First Security Bank software uses the <client filename>.EFD file and a <client filename>.EAC file in the 02ACKDAT subdirectory of your ProWin02 directory. (The <client filename>.EAC file isn’t entered in the 02ACKDAT subdirectory until the “Accepted” acknowledgment is received for the return.)
- After processing the client’s Bank Product request, First Security Bank sends information to your First Security Bank software.
- If you are going to print a Bank Product check for the client, you use the First Security Bank software to do so.
- If you have any questions about the First Security Bank software, see the documentation that you received from First Security Bank. If you can’t find an answer to your question in that documentation, contact First Security Bank according to the instructions in the First Security Bank documentation.
Republic Bank
If you’re offering bank products through Republic Bank:
- Use the Republic Bank software to send information about the client’s bank product request to Republic Bank. The Republic Bank software uses the <client filename>.EFD file and a <client filename>.EAC file in the 02ACKDAT subdirectory of your ProWin02 directory. (The <client filename>.EAC file isn’t entered in the 02ACKDAT subdirectory until the “Accepted” acknowledgment is received for the return.)
- After processing the client’s Bank Product request, Republic Bank sends information to your Republic Bank software.
- If you are going to print a Bank Product check for the client, you use the Republic Bank software to do so.
