Getting products and updates as soon as possible

In between CD shipments, you can use the Internet to get any newly-released products and product updates. There are three ways to get up-to-date ProSeries products.

1
Use Task Scheduler to automatically download new products and update installed products late at night, when you aren’t using your computer.

See Using Task Scheduler to install and update ProSeries tax products for more information.

2
Use the Select and Download New Products command or the Update Installed Products command on the ProSeries Update menu.

See Installing and updating tax products from the ProSeries program for more information.

3
Use the ProSeries Update command on the ProSeries 2006 program menu.

See Installing and updating tax products from the ProSeries program menu for more information.

Learning product release dates and the status of forms

You can get information about product release dates and the status of forms several ways:

If a return is open and the Form Status bar is on the screen, click the right side of the Form Status bar to go to the Release Dates page for that product in ProSeries.com.
If the middle part of the Form Status bar indicates the form is “Delayed,” click that text to see an explanation for the delay in a pop-up dialog box.
Go to the Help Center, then select Release Dates & Form Status to go to the overall Release Dates page in ProSeries.com.
Go to the Help Center, select ReadMe Information, then select a product.

Tip:
ReadMe information. The ReadMe information for a ProSeries tax product identifies any forms that are not ready to be filed yet. When a product is updated, its ReadMe Information is updated.
For information about product release dates and the status of forms, go to http://www.proseries.com, select Support, then select Release Dates.
For information on release dates and news specific to the products you’ve purchased, go to http://www.proseries.com, then log in to your personalized My ProSeries page.

Important:
Identifying non-final forms. Final Review identifies non-final forms in the open return. If you open a form that can’t be filed yet, you see “NON‑FINAL” in red text near the upper-right corner of the form, and you see the Form Status bar. If you print a form that can’t be filed yet, you see a “DO NOT FILE” watermark. Don’t file a return unless you have the final version of all the forms that are included in the return. If necessary, update the product until you have the final version of those forms.
