Using the ProSeries User’s Guide

This ProSeries User’s Guide contains step-by-step instructions for using the ProSeries features.

Important:

Installing the ProSeries User’s Guide

When you install ProSeries software, you can install the ProSeries User’s Guide on your computer’s hard drive or a network drive.

If you install the guide. If you install the ProSeries User’s Guide, you can open it from the ProSeries program and from the ProSeries 2002 program group menu.
If you don’t install the guide. If you don’t install the ProSeries User’s Guide, you must open it from the ProSeries CD or from ProSeries.com.

Important:

Client Organizer version. The version of the on-screen ProSeries User’s Guide that’s available with the first ProSeries CD (which contains only Client Organizer) doesn’t include all the chapters. A complete on-screen ProSeries User’s Guide is available with subsequent ProSeries CDs. If you install the User’s Guide from the ProSeries Client Organizer CD, be sure to re-install the User’s Guide when you receive the next ProSeries CD.

You can open the on-screen ProSeries User’s Guide from the following places:

To open the on-screen version of the ProSeries User’s Guide from the Help Center:

Go to the Help menu and choose Help Center.
In the Help Center dialog box, select User’s Guide.

The ProSeries User’s Guide title page and Table of Contents appear in your browser.

If the ProSeries program can’t find the ProSeries User’s Guide

If the ProSeries program can’t locate the ProSeries User’s Guide, the following dialog box appears instead of the User’s Guide:

If you click Cancel, the Locate User’s Guide dialog box appears so you can direct the ProSeries program to a CD, your hard drive or network drive, or ProSeries.com.

Tip:

User’s Guide button. A quick way to open the on-screen version of the ProSeries User’s Guide from the ProSeries program is to go to the toolbar and click the on-screen User’s Guide button.

To open the on-screen version of the ProSeries User’s Guide from the ProSeries 2002 program group menu:

Go to the taskbar and click Start.
On the Start menu, point to Programs.
On the Programs menu, point to ProSeries 2002.
From the ProSeries 2002 menu, choose User’s Guide.

Important:

When the User’s Guide won’t appear on the ProSeries 2002 menu. If you chose to not install the ProSeries User’s Guide, or if you uninstalled it, the User’s Guide won’t appear on the ProSeries 2002 menu.

Opening the ProSeries User’s Guide from ProSeries.com

If you didn’t install the ProSeries User’s Guide and you don’t have the ProSeries CD handy, you can access the on-screen version of the ProSeries User’s Guide from ProSeries.com:

Start your browser, then go to ProSeries.com on the Internet at:

From the ProSeries.com home page, go to the Resources page and click Pro User’s Guide.

Finding information in the ProSeries User’s Guide

To find information in the ProSeries User’s Guide:

In the topic area on the right side of the on-screen User’s Guide, all words and phrases that are blue and underlined are links to other topics.

Click a link to go to that topic.
If you link from one topic to another, click your browser’s Back button to go back to previous topics.

Tip:	Index and Search. You can also use the Index and Search features to find information quickly.

Printing sections of the ProSeries User’s Guide

The easiest way to print the currently-displayed section of the on-screen ProSeries User’s Guide is to click the Print button at the upper-right corner of the User’s Guide.

Hiding and showing the ProSeries User’s Guide

To minimize the ProSeries User’s Guide to the Windows taskbar so you can work in the ProSeries program, click the Minimize control box at the upper-right corner of the User’s Guide window.

To see the User’s Guide again, click ProSeries User’s Guide on the taskbar.
