Getting help with electronic filing
This section explains how to solve acknowledgment problems and get electronic filing technical support information.
Solving problems with acknowledgments
Transmission of acknowledgments can be interrupted if the Internet connection becomes unstable or the connection is lost. In those cases, the Intuit Electronic Filing Center may assume you received an acknowledgment that does not appear in your HomeBase EF Center.
If the status of a return appears incorrect or does not seem to be updated, go to the Electronic Filing menu and choose Update Selected Acknowledgments. For more information, see "Updating selected electronic filing acknowledgments".
Getting information from the IRS
The IRS recognizes that professional tax preparers have unique needs for electronic filing. The IRS Web site for tax professionals includes information to help you learn more about electronic filing, and how to use it in your practice. The IRS Web site for tax professionals is located at:

You can get electronic filing technical support information from within the ProSeries program, from ProSeries.com, and by calling ProSeries Technical Support.
Getting information from within the ProSeries program
If you have questions about setting up the ProSeries program for electronic filing or about the electronic filing process, use the following resources:
- ProSeries tutorial videos — The ProSeries electronic filing tutorial videos provide a snapshot of the electronic filing process. These tutorial videos are especially helpful if this is your first time using ProSeries/Electronic Filing. To see these tutorial videos, go to the Help menu, choose Help Center, select Tutorial Video, then choose Electronic Filing - Overview, Electronic Filing - Preparing a Return, or Electronic Filing - Preparing an Extension.
- Quick Answers — The new Quick Answers feature provides information about the most common issues with the electronic filing process.
To see the Quick Answers about electronic filing, go to the EF Center, click the Quick Answers button on the toolbar, then browse the list of questions to find the issue that you’re interested in.
- Program Help — ProSeries Program Help includes information about the electronic filing process.
To see the Program Help about electronic filing, go to the Help menu, choose Help Center, then type “electronic filing” in the Search field to select electronic filing in the upper pane of the Help Center dialog box. Click Display, then select the electronic filing topic that you want from the Topics Found dialog box.
Getting information from ProSeries.com
If you have a question about electronic filing, use either of the following methods to check ProSeries.com for technical support information.
- In the ProSeries program, go to the HomeBase EF Center, then click the View EF technical support FAQ button near the bottom of the Steps to E-File section.
- In your browser, go to www.proseries.com, then choose E-Filing.
To access Electronic Filing technical documents that are available from ProSeries.com, select Help & Support, select Browse Support Articles, then select Electronic Filing Topics.
Calling ProSeries Technical Support
If you have questions about preparing or converting returns for electronic filing in the ProSeries program, contact ProSeries Technical Support. When you call, make sure you’re at your computer with the ProSeries program running. Have your Intuit customer number (printed on your packing slip) available.
Important: If you receive a message from the Intuit Electronic Filing Center advising you to contact ProSeries Technical Support, call as soon as possible.
